Introduction to division
In the division of adult nursing, we study research methods and investigate theories and concepts in order to understand the health issues (chronic/long-term illnesses, etc.) of adults and families in a multifaceted way and to maintain and regulate optimal health.
We focus on nurturing human resources who can engage in research related to the development and implementation of new nursing practices based on evidence as well as carrying out research that leads to the study of research issues and evidence for nursing practices that are in line with rapidly changing clinical situations and the needs of the persons concerned.
With regard to our research, we are conducting studies on skin disorders and peripheral nerve disorders associated with cancer drug therapy in cancer patients (cancer survivors) who are in the treatment stage of chronic diseases and on medication adherence, and in recent years, we have been promoting research on elderly cancer patients.
In our research on decision-making support, we are engaged in teaching the decision-making support of medical care professionals and developing educational programs that will teach how to systematically produce tools that can be used for decision-making support. In addition to cancer medical care, we are also currently working on the development of a decision-making support tool for patients with severe heart failure.
Furthermore, as a comprehensive university, we have a strong advantage of being able to collaborate with researchers in other faculties, and we are working with them to pioneer and vigorously promote longitudinal studies on walking and falling among local elderly residents, research on the superaged, centenarian studies, and research on the use of devices.
